I want to have fun without killing myself
Sheylara -

My world would be a better place if I could erase my mistakes.

One of the saddest ironies in life is that people don't realise their mistakes until it's too late. Right or wrong is not always clear cut, but we know we've done something wrong when we find ourselves thinking: "I should have done that, instead."

Sure, we learn from mistakes, but why must we even go through all that farce in the first place? It's like we were born so we could make mistake after mistake. And they're the same mistakes our parents and their parents made.

And we know our children will make them no matter how hard we try to protect them.

Absurd, isn't it?

My world would be a better place if evil people all died.

In 1944, French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre wrote the famous phrase: "Hell is other people". It's in his play about three people who die and go to hell, then discovering that the hellish punishment isn't physical pain, but mental anguish caused by other people.

A lot of unhappiness in life is caused by human conflict. The worst kinds are when people purposely hurt other people for selfish or sadistic reasons.

My world would be a better place it were fair.

The world is a cruel, unfair place. People are born unequal. Hard work isn't always rewarded. Crime isn't always punished.

Some people get everything while some get nothing. Some people are born deformed and some die before they're born. It's all quite sick and horrible.

My world would be a better place if fun didn't kill us.

Fried chicken and chocolates are bad for health. Alcohol and drugs are bad for health. Late-night partying is bad for health. Speeding in a race car is potentially bad for health.

Too many fun things on earth are bad for us. What's the point of life if we can't do fun things without killing ourselves?

My world would be a better place if people couldn't get sick.

Trying to enjoy life causes pain and suffering in the long run. Fun results in clogged arteries and broken bones and malfunctioning kidneys.

But what's worse is that we are susceptible to illness and physical degeneration even if we lead totally disciplined lives. We still fall prey to viruses and accidents and natural wear and tear.

No matter how much we regulate ourselves, there will still be pain and suffering.

My world would be a better place if I could teleport.

Commuting is such a waste of time. I wish we could all just get to a place instantaneously.

But I suppose that's a rather impractical wish. Some pervert could teleport himself into a girl's bathroom while she's having a shower, or a thief could teleport in and out of a bank vault.

I guess, if you think about it, many things in life we wish for are actually impractical and could cause more harm than good in the end.

Which means that people can rant about how the world is unfair and how there is too much pain, but maybe there is a valid reason for every seemingly bad thing. Something like, there can't be happiness without sadness.

But it's still fun to wish for what we think would be a perfect world.

Luckily for us, wishing doesn't kill us.

Or does it?

playwithmusic >> Thanks for the compliment. The fact is, I believe everyone has haters, whether the person is good or bad.

RN >> Heheh. that sounds like fun to watch. But I've heard more bad than good reviews of the movie. In fact, I don't remember hearing any good ones, lol.

Sheylara: Err... not exactly. It stars Megan Fox as a possessed girl who goes around killing boys. I guess it does have references to hell, if demons are involved:P

But why would Megan Fox be in hell?
Posted by Julen on 04-11-2009
Well you'd have to dodge the murderers and cannibals and Republicans, but still... MEGAN FOX!

Julen >> That's a bit discriminating, don't you think?

Shey: just think about it for a moment - if Hell exists that would be where you find all the hookers, loose women and eventually, Megan Fox. Party on!

Shey: Yea something to that effect ;P!

Julen >> I suppose the Devil would be a lot fun to hang out with, provided you're his friend and not his prey.

I reckon the Devil's a heck of a lot of fun to hang out with. Just not to live with, maybe...
